This week has been great! It was a little sad because we had to say goodbye to the Baker's. But she promised us she would come see us! That same day after we left their house and were heading home, I had a thought (aka prompting) to not forget to go to the Portuguese family's house and to do it now. We turned around and headed back up Woodland Hills Dr. We got there and when we walked in the wife started to tear up saying that she had just been praying for angels to come and that she had just written a letter to her father asking him to just listen to what they have to say. She began to cry and then told us that we were answers to her prayers. Woah. That was a cool feeling to know that we were an answer to her prayer. I'm so grateful the the Lord trusts me enough to put us in a position to be prepared to listen to that prompting and to act on it. I'm just so grateful that the Lord loves me and He allows the Spirit to help me and trusts me to act on it. I love when the Lord shows you that He is there and He let's us see the blessing/miracle actually happen. Those are the moments when it really just gives me a reason to say ‘this is why I'm here.’
We had flautas one night with a family. I honestly im in love! I love flautas so so much! We later had a lesson in Elk Ridge but they weren't there, we went contacting for a while and then for the last couple of minutes of the day, before having to head home we went up to Woodland Hills and watched a really cool rain storm come through. Ahh just what I needed. I miss the huge storms in Texas. The pictures don't do it justice.
We were in the Salem parade this last weekend, get this, we were in a members truck that Elder Root knows, for the parade, a really nice F150 Platinum and a guy during the parade threw a rock and said that we didn't have the truth. We were talking to the member that was driving us after the parade, he said he about got out of the truck and threw that guy into the pond. But he was nice and just stopped stared at him, the whole crowd got on him anyways. Too bad none of us realized what was going on because you know Elder Root and I would've thrown that guy into that pond for him! Hah
Why do people have to be like that?
A family in our ward, the Diaz family, are from Venezuela let us come over on Saturday and teach her brother who got from Venezuela on Wednesday!! He was a bit skeptical but by the end of it he was definitely thinking about all we had told him. He came to church yesterday and we were so happy to see him there participating and listening. It's the best feeling when your investigators come to church!
We got to also do a Q&A yesterday night with Elder Conley and Elder O’Reilly and it was super cool. We first gave a mini lesson to the youth. We talked about being strong against all the temptations and peer pressure in high school. Then after the lesson they just asked a bunch of random questions :)
Today is a good day, Sister Shirley and I are so happy for this upcoming week. Ahhh I honestly love being a missionary.
